STEELCO gutter screens were invented and developed in Ashland, Kentucky by brothers Homer and Harry Steele prior to 1950. They were patented in 1956, and have been manufactured by Steele Plastics Manufacturing Company since that time. Harry, himself, built the equipment used to manufacture the screens. That equipment is still in use today, making STEELCO screens with the same solid construction as always. To date, no competitive product has proven to be more effective at preventing clogged downspouts and reducing gutter maintenance, even at many times the cost of STEELCO screens.
